Offers special expertise for dealing with Parkinson’s disease (a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement and individuals may have difficulty walking, balancing and coordinating movement gradually), as well as a unique water and land therapeutic program for those just learning how to manage the disease * partnered with the organization Passion for Parkinson's to provide free exercise programs
Participants begin the program with half an hour of walking exercises * for the second half of the class, participants perform functional exercises that will help develop core strength and improve balance, stability and coordination to improve participant's ability to perform everyday activities
Other activities include Tai Chi, indoor cycling classes, chair yoga, aquatic exercise, social activities, dancing with Parkinson's, and team games * email charlotteom@oakville.ymca.ca for program information schedule and to register
